POULTRY FARMERS COMMEND UDOM OVER HATCHERY

UDOM
Poultry farmers in Akwa Ibom state have expressed joy to Governor Udom Emmanuel for putting a world class hatchery that has the capacity to serve the poultry needs of the state and neighbouring states.
They stated this, during the weekend while taking delivery of over 20,000 chicks hatched at the recently commissioned Akwa Prime Hatchery and Poultry Ltd at Mbiaya-Uruan in Uruan local government area. Among those who purchased the products include beneficiaries of a special loan scheme called the Out growers scheme, and other independent poultry farmers in the state.
The customers in the two categories of independent poultry farmers and the loan assisted poultry out growers’ scheme were supplied with day old chicks in line with the promise of Governor Emmanuel to make Akwa Ibom a poultry capital in the South-South zone of the country.
Expressing satisfaction with Governor Emmanuel for keeping his promise, the manager of Trite Farms located at Ndon Ebom, Mr. Nelson Peter who smiled home with 5000 day old chicks said “I am happy the hatchery is beginning to meet up its goals and objectives.
He spoke glowingly of Governor Emmanuel, saying “the Governor has done his best to make sure that Akwa Ibom becomes an industrialized state. He is a man of vision.”
Mr Peter who was among the managers that recently received training from the Hatchery management said, “if the governor continues this way, as you can see, the Akwa Ibom people will enjoy the dividends of his good governance. I pray God to grant him more wisdom to bring more of such laudable projects to our state”
Another customer who is also a distributor of the day old chicks in Eket, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, commended the management of the hatchery for doing a good job. She was full of praises for Governor Udom Emmanuel for demonstrating enough commitment in his agricultural revolution agenda for the state.
She said what motivated her to partner Akwa Prime Hatchery in its out grower scheme, was the fact that she will not be having stress in marketing the products as the Akwa Prime Hatchery and Poultry ltd have a buy back clause which obliges them to buy back the chickens after maturity at six weeks.
Explaining the out grower scheme of the Hatchery, the General Manager of Akwa Prime Hatchery and Poultry, Dr Bala Yakubu said the scheme allows participants to contribute only 30 percent of the entire cost of the chicks, medication and feed, while the chickens would be mass purchased in only six weeks from the farmers to ready consumers.
He described the Out growers scheme as a unique incentive to encourage more people with little financial capital to embrace poultry farming business and commended Governor Emmanuel for the steps towards diversifying the economy through massive investments in Agriculture.
He said his survey reveals that Akwa Ibom is the largest consumer of poultry products in the region and maintained that the Akwa Prime Hatchery is committed to ensuring the total realization of Governor Emmanuel’s vision of making Akwa Ibom one of the largest exporters of poultry products in the country.
Some of the customers who took delivery of their chicks at the hatchery during the week included, Trite Farms Ltd, that bought 5000 birds, Dr Ini Adiakpan who is also a distributor in Eket, Chief Jack Udota who owns a farm in Eket, Downgeoge Farms Etinan, Sir. Michael Essang who got 2000 birds supplied to him in Mbo, Mr Emmanuel Essien was given 1000 chicks, and Mr Adimora Izuehie who was supplied 1000 chicks at Mbiabong.
