Akwa Ibom State Deputy Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Sir Ibanga Akpabio, who is a younger brother to the immediate past Governor of the state and now Senate Minority Leader, Chief Godswill Akpabio, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with fraud.

EFCC sources said the senior Akpabio is facing separate investigations over his mismanagement and embezzlement of Akwa Ibom state fund.

Source at the EFCC said Mr. Ibanga was arrested and detained at the Zonal offices of the EFCC in Port Harcourt for defrauding a member of the Federal House of Representatives, Robinson Uwak. He is also being interrogated over allegations of fraud and money laundering according to EFCC operatives.
