… Moves To Auction Properties
If information on the news desk of Ibom Telegraph s anything to go by, then well wishers and associates of the immediate past Chairman of the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service Matters and Senator that represented Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Senator Aloysius Etok, would have to come to his aid before his alleged bankrupt and financial impoverished status erupts.
Senator Etok, who left office 18 months, has allegedly offered his popular edifice located along D-Line, Ewet Housing Estate, for sale to enable him meet his immediate financial needs.
The said property, according to the Real Estate agent in-charge, is pegged at N120million.
“Even at that low price, we have not seen a real buyer yet. The only person that picked interest has been a retired Permanent Secretary who offered N38million. The Senator has asked us to step-down the asking price or auctions it for the highest bidder. We might have to drop the asking price due to the economic downturn,” the agent said.
A chieftain and former Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who spoke with our reporter on the condition of anonymity, feared the former Senator, if not helped, might go to the extent of selling Fortune High School.
In his words: “Our brother and son, Senator Aloysius Etok was in one of the lucrative Senate Committees. He is not somebody that spends money empowering people and other frivolities. That he is broke is so shocking to some of us. He needs to be helped else, he will sell off Fortune High School that has employed a few breadwinners.”
