Barr-Enoidem
More reasons have emerged why Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem purportedly resigned from Governor Udom Emmanuel’s cabinet.
It was alleged that until his purported resignation on Tuesday night to contest the National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barrister Enoidem, one of the strongmen in Udom’s cabinet, having served for more than nine years as Commissioner, left the cabinet as a result of power tussle that is currently brewing between Governor Udom Emmanuel and his godfather, Chief Godswill Akpabio.
Barrister Enoidem, believed to be Akpabio’s point man, is heading to the National Executive of the party to check moves by the Governor to plant his preferred person, Mr. Udo Ekpenyong.
However, Udo Ekpenyong is said to have issues with the former Governor and returning to the party executive would be an affront.
A source said, “Akpabio fronted Barrister Enoidem as Legal Adviser to the party to deny Udo Ekpenyong the chance of returning there.
Aside the power tussle, Enoidem was among the Commissioners inherited by Udom and are said to have been starved of funds to run their Ministries.
A source close to Enoidem said it was better to a have taken the right decisions of resigning rather than remain and grumble like others.
Many members of the State Executive Council, Special Assistants and Personal Assistants appointed by the Governor have in recent times complained of cash crunch and are said to have gone into hiding whenever kinsmen they represent visit them.
In a swift reaction to the purported resignation, a Government House source said the act was make-believe, according to him, “the process of resignation has to be through a letter to the Chairman of the State Executive Council who is the Governor during session. It must be duly accepted. And after which a valedictory session must be held to send forth such a person and either the Commissioner for Information or the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor must communicate to the public the resignation. None of these happened. So, Barrister Enoiden remains a Commissioner.”
