Youth of Akwa Ibom State are with intense interest and excitement as the August edition of Akwa Ibom Youth Prayer Conference, popularly known as Akwa Ibom Youth Prays, marks its first Anniversary in the Raffia City, Ikot Ekpene.
According to a statement made available to newsmen by the facilitator of the Conference and Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Youth Matters, Comrade Aniefiok Iwaudofia, the event, which is coordinated by Evangelist Ubong Ituen, is scheduled to take place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Queens Street, Ikot Ekpene, on Sunday, August 21, 2016.
Comrade Iwaudofia said “This is in strict compliance with the Governor’s directive to me, upon my appointment as his Special Assistant in charge of Youth Matters, to take the Youth of Akwa Ibom State back to God. This I have been doing for the past one year.”
He said the success story of the Conference would not have been possible but for the commitment and dedication of the youth and participants to the project.
“I am very grateful to all Akwa Ibom Youth for their overwhelming supports and commitments in this regards. Your massive turn out in all editions of the prayer conferences has been very commendable and encouraging,” the statement added.
The Special Assistant appreciated the Governor, who will be the Special Guest of Honour at the event for redirecting youth of the state to God, saying “Let me at this point respectfully and humbly appreciate my dear Boss and Mentor, Governor Udom Emmanuel for redirecting the Youths to God Almighty. It is indeed true that when the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice.”
“It is our sincere hope that, as we continually seek the face of God, the Youths will not die young anymore. Our Youths will have jobs and food to eat, hence; will not beg for a living but will earn a living with dignity,” the statement concluded.
The Conference, themed It Is The Lords Doing, will have the State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barrister Onofiok Luke; State Chief Judge, Justice Stephen Okon, and Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Uko, as Guests of Honour.
