EKPO HOSTS KOREAN ENVOY TO NIGERIA, SEEKS COOPERATION IN GAS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo today hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nigeria, His Excellency, Mr. Kim Pankyu, who was accompanied by the First Secretary (Economics) in the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nigeria, Mr. Yonggyu Kwon and Researcher, Ms. Tayiwa Bwala.

The Minister told the envoy that Nigeria is a predominantly gas country with associated crude oil and requires genuine investors in developing its gas space for economic growth and prosperity of citizens.

Ekpo also reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s assurances to foreign investors on the security of investments in the country, saying investors are free to bring in funds and also pull out at any time unhindered.

“I want to say that Nigeria is open to business, and for us in the gas sector, we are ready to do business with genuine investors from Korea and any other country. We welcome any form of collaboration with your country and Korean companies, especially in the development of our gas space,” said Ekpo.

The Korean envoy, Mr. Kim Pankyu, informed Ekpo that the visit was to consolidate on existing bilateral relationship between Nigeria and his country. He also called for cooperation between Nigeria and Korean companies in gas development projects, especially in NLNG and Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) vessel construction.
