Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, a frontline aspirant of Ikono South extract that is favoured by the established zoning arrangement of the area for the Federal House of Representatives’ seat, has said the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has been made a the order of the day, a religion.
The Ikono/INI Federal House of Representatives’ aspirant said “PDP accommodates all Akwa Ibom people irrespective of ethnic leaning; speaks development and progress irrespective of senatorial district; plays justice, equity and fairness. PDP carries out meaningful development projects.”
According to Obong Ukpong-Udo, the party is “the only political party that symbolizes unity and one that has national spread and all sections of the country represented in its affairs.”
“This is evident on the fact that I have seen, in recent time, thousands of people decamping from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to PDP and this is because the party has all it takes to accommodate people of different backgrounds without sentiment and hatred,” he maintained.
The National Assembly aspirant further explained that “PDP is a party that after religious obligations, it is the next priority the people of Akwa Ibom State talk about. And if you make mistake and missed PDP, like some people did in Ikot Ekpene recently, then you have made huge mistake.”
“Nobody will notice if you leave PDP because of the accommodating spirit of the party and the largeness of its party. If you draw water from ocean, who will know? If you spit into ocean you will see sign? So, we have been receiving our sons and daughters who were deceived and taken to APC. We have been doing this on a daily basis and we will continue to do this,” he added.
Obong Ukpong-Udo commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for his giant strides and laudable achievements, saying he deserved to be returned to the Government House in 2019.
“If you go round the three Senatorial Districts that make of the state you will see that there are lots of achievements by the Udom Emmanuel-led administration. All the projects initiated by this administration are high prospect projects,” he stated.
