NIGER SIGNS MoU FOR OPEN ACCESS FIBER OPTIC TELECOM NETWORK


Niger state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Broad-Based Communications Limited for the provision of Open Access Fiber Optic Telecommunication Network across the state.
By the agreement, Broad-Based Communications Limited is expected to finance, build, operate and maintain the Open Access Fiber Optic Telecommunication Network.
The two partners agreed to expand the current economic and investment potentials across the state especially in the area of youth employment, e-governance, security and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Other areas of benefit include commerce, with specific focus on ease of doing business and infrastructural development for the benefit of the citizenry.
The Managing Director of the Niger state Development Company (NDC), Malam Muhammad Abdulkadir signed on behalf of the state government, while Mr Chris Erewele stands in for Broad-Based Communications Limited.
Speaking at the occasion, NDC Managing Director said the signing of the MoU was a testimony of the commitment of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration in bettering the lot of the citizens of the state through projects that have direct bearing on them.
