INAUGURATION: BARR. MARY EWA SWORN-IN AS PIONEER PRESIDENT OF BPW, UYO

Bar. (Mrs.) Mary Ewa has been officially inaugurated as the President of Business and Professional Women (BPW), Uyo Eagles Club.

Ewa, a native of Udung Uko Local Government Area was inaugurated on Wednesday along with other women as members of the Executive for a period of three years, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital.

Delivering her acceptance speech, Bar. Ewa promised to work in accordance with the constitution of the Club and assured to put her very best to promote and expand the interest of the organization.

She appreciated the National President of BPW, Mrs. Yinka Ajibola for honoring their invitation to inaugurate the pioneer executive of the club.

Mrs. Ewa specifically appreciated Her Excellency, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel who hosted 2018 BPW Nigeria Conference in Uyo that gave birth to the formation of Uyo branch of the association known as Uyo Eagles Club.

She said that the Club has gone a long way to give opportunities to business women to mentor, advocate and participate duly in various sectors of the society.

She promised that her tenure will further consolidate on business professionalism and governance through seamless alignment with the goals and objectives of the International Body, adding that links with local and foreign organizations will be bolstered to provide cross learning and exposure of members to opportunities outside their immediate environment.

Mrs Ewa assured unique and exceptional welfare for members and appreciated them for supporting and standing with her, insisting to draw up programmes that will change the lives of a multitude women and benefit the society.

Advising women at the event, the Deputy Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Princess Felicia Bassey encouraged women to start small business with little amount not to wait until they have millions for investment.

She said that although business involves a lot of requirements in terms of capital, energy, time and patience, those who engage in it with seriousness and being diligent will surely succeed at the end.

The law maker cautioned women on their attitudes with customers and advised them to try their very best in giving preferential treatment to any customer who comes to patronize their products, noting that bad treatment to customers shifts many customers to their competitors.

She assured government support to the growth and progress of women, not only on financial empowerment, but to mentor and monitor their progress in their businesses.

She congratulated the newly inaugurated president, Mrs. Mary Ewa and other members of the executive and acknowledged Bar. Ewa steadfastness and commitment towards the formation of the club in Uyo.

In her remarks, the National President of BPW, Mrs. Yinka Ajibola congratulated the pioneer executive of the club and charged them to work in accordance with the constitution of the International Body and to keep the ground running.

She expressed satisfaction on the cooperation of members and assure a smooth working relationship with the club.

While thanking God for the success of the inauguration, she acknowledged the performance of governor Udom Emmanuel for Ibom Air that ease transportation and for the peace enjoy in the State.

The event featured, presentation of gift item to the Deputy speaker Akwa Ibom State House Assembly, Princess Felicia Bassey for Her Excellency, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, presentation of certificate of membership to the club members, lighting of candles that symbolizes brightness of the club as well as presentation of goodwill messages.

Some dignitaries at the inauguration were: Chairman Nsit Atai Local Government Council, Lady Emem Ibanga, former Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Justice Idongesit Ntem Isua, former Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, Obongawan Grace Ekong, National Executive Member of BPW Mrs Ngozi Igwe amongst others.
