IBENO PDP ELDERS GIVE KUDOS TO UDOM, RETURN PARTY TO GRASSROOTS

DSC_0574Ibeno Local Government Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for the strides so far taken in fulfilling his campaign promises.
At a meeting of Ibeno PDP Elders convened by the Chapter Chairman of the party, Mr. Ekoakwaha Etteh, the people said they have every reason to thank the State Governor for the ongoing road construction and industrialization in the state, “maintaining that have benefited a lot from the present administration.”
Briefing the PDP Elders on happenings within the party at both national and state levels, the Chapter Chairman, Mr. Etteh, thanked them for the support given to the PDP-led government and added “we are here to inform our elders of development in the party at all level and to properly guide us regarding the forthcoming congresses of the party and for the way forward.”
According to him, “one group or person cannot carry Ibeno alone. Ibeno can only move forward through peace, unity and harmony. My tenure as Chapter Chairman of our great party has enjoyed sustainable peace and I will keep to it.”
In his brief remarks, Ibeno Local Government Council Transition Chairman, Mr. Henry Ekpe-Nko, thanked the party for the timely meeting, which he said was an offshoot of the State Caucus meeting held at the state level.
Speaking on behalf of the State Caucus, the immediate Leader of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, charged the people by saying “Ibeno and PDP, from inception, have been inseparable,” stressing that the instruction given to them was to ensure the party is returned to the grassroots.
While commending the Governor, the former Leader of the House of Assembly sued for peace, adding that “Ibeno has never been known for opposition. The party should be devoid of ethnicity and rancor. it is our business to make sure Governor Udom Emmanuel succeed since he is from Eket Federal Constituency,” and appealed to the people to also meet at Ward level and resolve within themselves.
Others who also spoke including Samuel Ekpenyong, Apostle Samuel Ekah, Friday Ikpo, among others, appealed to the party elders to ensure the peace in Ibeno is maintained and everybody carried along.
They also charged the party elders to “stir confidence in the hearts of the people because God is working something for the people of Ibeno. Our people should learn to respect the party and protocol whenever it comes to party issue.”
Among those invited for the meeting where State Officer of the party; all Chapter Officers of the party; all Ward Chairmen; State Caucus members of the party; Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour and Productivity, Hon. Ekpenyong Enyina; all Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor; Engr. Ukot Thomas Ukot; Chief Eshiet Okutinyang; Hon. Samuel Thomas; Bishop Okon Ukpe Afaiko; Chief C. A. Etiah; Chief Augustine Akpan Ukot; Rt. Hon. Nkponto Essien; Hon. Enyina Henkins; Hon. Joshua Mkpat; Deaconess Regina Egbe; Hon. Inyang Eyo-Ita; Hon. Ibok Etukdo; Hon. Aloysius Asuquo; Hon. Lucky Akrasi, and Hon. Ifum Henry.
