Chairman of the Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission, EARCOM, Akwa Ibom State, Dr Dorothy Thompson has commended staff of the Commission for their teamwork and called for more support to achieve objectives in line with the Completion Agenda of the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel.
The EARCOM Boss made the commendation while addressing the board, management and staff of the Commission during a surprise birthday celebration organised for her by the Staff at the EARCOM Office along Idoro Road, Uyo.
Dr Thompson expressed happiness for the love and understanding shown by the board and staff and charged them to unite and be committed to the objectives of the Commission so that EARCOM thrives.
She lauded Board members, who she noted, have helped her to drive the Commission to this present level. While thanking Governor Emmanuel and his wife for the opportunity given her and the Board to serve the State at EARCOM, She decried vandalism of public infrastructure, social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, rape, prostitution, violence and the begging culture by deviants which she observed is gradually taking roots in the State.
Dr Thompson reiterated the commitment of EARCOM to sustain the campaign for socially responsible citizens and reinstatement of ethics in the society, adding that, there is need for all hands to be on deck in order to translate the vision of government into reality.
The Director of Administration of the Commission, Mr. Aniefiok Stephen while congratulating Dr Thompson on her 60th birthday, described her as a resilient fighter of social vices and Championing the cause of human re-engineering.
The Director who proposed the toast urged Staff of the Commission to be alive to their responsibilities to achieve their set goals and objectives and pledged their sustained support for the EARCOM Chairman. He prayed God Almighty to grant her many more fruitful years of service.
Others who paid tributes include Board Members and Mr Uwem Akpan who spoke on behalf of the Staff.
A Board Member, Pastor Ime David, thanked Dr Thompson for making work fun and fulfilling, and described her as an erudite scholar and epitome of excellence.
Another Board Member, Dr Imefon Udoh expressed gratitude to God for sustaining her in good health and vibrance even at 60, maintaining that, she has managed the affairs of the Commission with prudence and integrity.
Mr Uwem Akpan on behalf of the staff said that the birthday celebration was a gesture of love from the EARCOM Family to their boss who has become not only a leader but friend and constant companion to them.
Highpoint of the event was the Cutting of the birthday cakes presented by the Staff and the children of the EARCOM Boss while the State Pastor of The Lords Chosen Charismatic Revival Church, Pastor Michael Onah, prayed for protection, preservation and blessings for the EARCOM Boss, the Commission, the State Governor and Akwa Ibom State at large.
Board members who were present at the event include, Hon. Victor Udofia, Hon. Nsikan Nyong, Hon. (Dr.) Imefon Udoh, Hon. Michael Isang, Hon. (Pastor) Ime David and the Board Secretary, Barr. Love Archibong Bassey.
