A’IBOM GOVERNMENT PARTNERS ENTREPRENEURS

 

The Akwa Ibom State government has promised to partner with Akwa Ibom Entrepreneurs, owners of Made in Akwa Showroom located at 129, Oron Road, Uyo.

 

This assurance was made today in Uyo by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Microfinance and Enterprise Development, Mr. Ime Uwah, during an interactive session with a 12-man delegation from the Akwa Ibom Entrepreneurs, in his office.

 

Expressing delight  that the visions of the Akwa Ibom Entrepreneurs were in tandem with Governor Udom’s completion agenda, Mr. Ime noted that members of the Made in Akwa Ibom Showroom are the kind of people the state government is looking for, to grow their businesses and assured that their visions will be realized.

 

Revealing the motive behind the establishment of the Directorate of Microfinance and Enterprise Development, Mr Uwah, explained that his office is strategized to identify and assist only serious and true entrepreneurs who will eventually become the testimonials of the State government enterprise programmes.

 

Reiterating that the main interests of the Directorate are on Micro-credit and Enterprise Development, he quickly cautioned that it’s aim is not to give out finances but to link up entrepreneurs to zero- interest loan facilities.

 

The SSA, also encouraged all members of the Made in Akwa Ibom Showroom to take advantage of the ongoing registration of the state government Entrepreneurship Goals Programme.

 

Earlier, Mr. Collins Oscar, the leader of Akwa Ibom Entrepreneurs, thanked Governor Udom for appointing a passionate and visionary entrepreneur to help actualize his entrepreneurial development programmes.

 

Mr. Oscar, however, stated that the Akwa Ibom Entrepreneurs’ visit to the Directorate was to seek government’s partnership in the development of the Made in Akwa Ibom Factory property at Itam and spearheading the  national market penetration of Made in Akwa Ibom products.

 

In their separate responses, Mr. Nelson Usoroh, Mr. Obed Obed, Mr. Joseph Joshua and Mr. Ikanke Ibia; all members of the Akwa Ibom Entrepreneurs, thanked the SSA for the opportunity to interact with him and expressed hope that with the establishment of the Directorate, the business mentality of the average Akwa Ibomite will be reoriented and more internal revenue generated for the State government.

 

In attendance also was the Secretary, Akwa Ibom Microcredit Scheme, Mr. Monday John and the Secretary, Akwa Ibom Entrepreneurs, Arc. Dr. Eno Nyong.

 

 

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of  a non- alcoholic and an alcoholic drinks, made in Akwa Ibom by Akwa ibomites, to the Enterprise Development boss, Mr. Ime.
