A’IBOM ASSEMBLY PASSES COLLEGE OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY BILL INTO LAW

A Bill to establish the Akwa Ibom State College of Health Technology and for other matters connected therewith has been passed into Law by the Seventh Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, on Tuesday.

 

The report of the Bill which was sponsored by the member representing Etinan State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Barr. Aniefiok Dennis was presented to the House by the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Hon. Udeme Otong (Abak State Constituency).

 

Hon. Otong stated that the conversion of the School of Health Sciences to a College of Health Technology, will make the school to be a Degree awarding institution and will also attract funding from donor agencies like the World Bank, United Nations Development Fund and Petroleum Technology Development Fund.

 

In another development, the House also received and considered the Report of the Public Accounts Committee, headed by Dr Charity Ido, on the Audited Accounts of the State Government for the Year ended 31st December, 2018.

 

The House has adjourned its plenary to reconvene on December 12, 2019 at 10am.
