FINALLY, UDOM CONSTITUTES BOARDS, COMMISSIONS

The long awaited appointments into Boards and Commissions was announced by Governor Udom Emmanuel, Wednesday, September 7, 2016, with the appointment of a former Coordinator of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and retired Permanent Secretary in the state, Sir Valentine Attah, as Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, and former Minister of Lands and Housing, Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi, as Head of the Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic.
Also making the list includes, a former Head of Service, Chief Sunny Akpadiaha is the new Chairman of State Civil Service Commission; Bishop Andrew Uwanta has been named the Chairman of House of Assembly Service Commission; Barr. Comfort Etuk is the Chairman of State Technical Schools Board; Hon. Imo Udobia is the Chairman of State Secondary Education Board; Prof. Maria Ikorok is to take over the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB as Chairman, and Prof. Mrs. Regina Godwin Ikpatt has been named the Chairman of the Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State College of Education.
A press statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren , indicated that their appointment takes effect immediately.

Meanwhile, the Chairmanship as well as membership of boards of the state polytechnic and the College of Education is to be on part time basis, while the rest are full time appointment.

The appointment of the Chairmen and members of the various Boards and Commission in the state by Governor Udom Emmanuel, which came about a year and four months after he assumed office, has been described by some members of the public as a welcome development.
