Umana, APC Flags Off AKHA Rerun Rally In Ibesikpo

IBESIKPO
Ibesikpo Asutan LGA of Akwa Ibom State witnesses the greatest human invasion on Friday as the APC Governorship candidate in the April 11, 2015 election and symbol of Akwa Ibom liberation, Obong Umana Umana stormed the area as the party flagged off its mega rally in solidarity with the APC State House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Gabriel Akpan billed to contest the March 12,2016 rerun election.
Umana and his wife, Florence, who was welcomed at the Akwa Ibom International Airport (AKIA), alongside other members of his entourage which included the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang, APC BOT member, Atuekong Don Etiebet among others were driven from the airport to Ibesikpo LGA for the rally.
Addressing the rally, Obong Umana said the outcome of the Supreme Court legal battle notwithstanding, the battle to liberate the state is irrevocable and the Supreme Court verdict cannot dampen the resolve of Akwa Ibom people to realise their dream of a free, liberated and prosperous state with a government that is responsive to the yearnings and aspirations of the people. He said even the PDP in their heart of hearts know they won no election in the state and regretted that the infamous Supreme Court judgement has only brought more hardship to the State and it’s people
He thanked Akwa Ibom people for their show of love, solidarity and steadfastness and called on the people of Ibesikpo to rally round the APC candidate towards ensuring total victory to the party and it’s candidate.
Also speaking, a former Minister of Petroluem and member of the Board of Trustees of the APC, Atuekong Don Etiebet said the era of electoral impunity is over as the days of a PDP compliant Achong as Police Commissioner and a corrupt Austin Okojie as INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner is gone. He called on security operatives in the state to play by the rules in the forthcoming rerun election by remaining professional and non partisan in the discharge of their duties.
On his part, the APC State Chairman, Dr. Amadu Attai said despite the outcome of the Supreme Court over the disputed April 11,2015 Governorship election in the state, Obong Umana Umana remains the people’s Governor and APC remains the people’s party and called on Ibesikpo Asutan people to give their total support to the party’s candidate to win the rerun election.
Addressing his people, the Ibesikpo Asutan APC State House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Gabriel Akpan thanked the people for their love and support and called on his constituents to come out enmass to vote him as their state legislator. The former Councillor who won at the Court of Appeal in Abuja which led to the sack of the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Aniekan Uko and the forthcoming rerun after the nullification of the election, said the difference between him and his opponent lies in the fact that while his dream is to contest, win and offer people centered representative to his constituents, his opponents primary concern is to become the Speaker of the State House of Assembly for personal and selfish purpose and charged his people to take their destiny in their hands and fight their way to liberty and freedom with the power of their votes on March 12.
He regretted that Ibesikpo which should be a model area has become an empire for brazen impunity where an individual can wake up and change the name of the local government from Ibesikpo LGA to Uwem Ita Etuk Local Government Area and called for a level playing field for all aspirants in the forthcoming State Assembly rerun election. Thousands of APC supporters from the 31 local government area of the state attended the rally.
