UDOM INAUGURATES 32ND ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE

A Committee responsible for overseeing the planning and organising of Akwa Ibom State 32nd Anniversary Celebration has been inaugurated.

The Anniversary will hold on September 23, 2019, which would mark exactly 32 years since the creation of Akwa Ibom State.

The Committee which is headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem has the Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen as Chairman of the Projects Sub- Committee, while the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh chaired the Publicity and Programme Sub- Committee.

Others include, the Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr. Akan Okon, Chairman, Venue Sub-Committee, the Commissioner for Environment and Petroleum Resources, Rt Hon. Ekong Sampson, Chairman, Environmental Sub-Committee, while the Mobilization Sub- Committee is headed by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Monday Ebong Uko, among others.

Inaugurating the committee on Wednesday at Government House, Uyo, Governor Udom Emmanuel said the celebration of this year’s anniversary will commence with the commissioning of several Projects across the State on September 21, 2019 by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo.

Represented at the occasion by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, the governor mentioned some of the projects billed for commissioning by the Vice President to include the Flour Mills, Plywood Industry, Hospitals and the Digital Electrical Power Sub-Station at Ekim , Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.

The State Chief Executive who gave the central theme of the celebration as, “I BELIEVE GOD”, added that the Vice President is also expected to attend and deliver a sermon at the Anniversary Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Uyo Township Stadium.

Other items lined up on September 23, according to the Governor will be the inauguration of the new Chairman of the State Council of Chiefs and presentation of certificates of recognition to certified Clan Heads and Village Heads in the State.

He charged members of the Committee to, as usual, discharge their responsibilities assiduously towards the success of the event.
