I Will Bring Participatory Representation To My Constituents – Nsikak Umoren

OBOT AKARA

The leading aspirant for the Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency seat come 2023, Mr Nsikak Umoren has said that he was in the race to change the dynamics of governance and give his consituents effective representation.
Umoren, in a chat with newsmen, Thursday, said he was poised to enter the race to change the socio-economic lives of his people.
The Geologist turned politician stressed that he would bring to bear what he termed “participatory representation,” where his constituents would be given the platform to make inputs in the day-to-day running of their affairs in the Federal Constituency.
He said: “I will build a town hall where we will meet quarterly to take stock of what we have done, what we want to do vis-a-vis what he had promised the people.”
The House of Representatives hopeful said his style of leadership and representation would be unique as the people would take centre stage of his representation.
“I’m not going to the National Assembly to amass wealth for myself but to contribute in enacting people-centred laws that will impact the lives and livelihood of my constituents. Let me also state here that my empowerment focus will be one in town,” he stated.
Umoren, who said he would run on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), maintained that a lot of things including zoning have given him the edge over other aspirants.
“You know, it’s an established political arrangement that there’s no second term in Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency. Right from 1999, it has been single term for representative from Ikot Ekpene, Essien and Obot Akara Local Government Areas,” the former staff of Shell Petroleum Development Company, (SPDC), stated.
He called on his consituents to give him the needed support to clinch the seat and give them a new lease of life.
