2023: My Vision is Youth Development, Job Creation – Pastor Umo Eno

… Applauds Newbreed over Free Empowerment Programmes

The frontline gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has commended the International Coordinator of ‘The Newbreed for Sustainable Development’, Engr. Ekpenyong Udo Ekpenyong for impacting youths through free skill acqusition and empowerment.

Speaking during a visit to its training centre in Uyo, Tuesday March 1, 2022, Pastor Umo said the activities of Newbreed aligns with his 2023 vision which centres mostly on youth development and job creation.

He noted that the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration has performed creditably well by building roads, industries and other infrastructure, as well as opening up the state through the three gateways of air, land and sea, adding that what is left is connecting the dots through advancing entrepreneurial development.

Pastor Eno who is the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources reiterated his vision to invest in small and medium scale enterprises which according to him, are the stimulators of a virile socio-economic system.

He maintained that he has been an entrepreneur for years and understands the rudiments of creating jobs adding that it was high time the youths were taken off the streets to avert any impending danger.

Pastor Eno, a seasoned businessman and founder of the Royalty Group, emphasized that business hubs would be created for different lines of trades such as fashion, leatherworks, tailoring, catering, agribusiness and others, stressing that many Akwa Ibom youths would be meaningfully engaged through the hubs.

He said taking the youth off the street is a priority so that they can have a source of livelihood, and that the idea of giving handouts to youths is not sustainable and cannot make them thrive or fulfil their full potentials.

He applauded Engr Ekpenyong for the free trainings to hundreds of Akwa Ibom people saying that sustainable development through training the youths in entrepreneurship and marketable skills is what is needed in the state, adding that if an individual could do this, government could do much more to enhance development.

In his remarks, the International Co-ordinator of The New Breed for Sustainable Development, Engr. Ekpenyong, appreciated Pastor Umo Eno for visiting the skill centre and also for his vision for youths of the State.

He said Newbreed was fully in support of Pastor Eno’s aspiration and adopted him as their sole candidate given his vision and entrepreneurial pedigree which according to him, would help to further development in the state.

Engr Ekpenyong explained that the free training programme was in line with the Dakkada Philosophy of the current governor, and fulfilment of their promise to support the governor actualize his vision of making Akwa Ibom an enterpreneur – driven society.

The Commissioner was later presented with a well finished leather slippers and then given a tour of the different sections of the centre where he got first-hand information of the centre’s operation.
