The Apex Socio – Cultural and Economic organization in Ikono Local Government Area, the Esop Mbong Ikono is set to unveil its public status on Friday, 15th November, 2019 at the Council Secretariat , Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, Ikono Local Government Area.
The group will also raise funds for building of a befitting Civic Center in the area.
The Chairman of the organization, Sir. Tony Afia disclosed this during a press briefing in his office yesterday.
He announced that the event will feature annual home-coming/unveiling of ESOP Mbong Ikono to the public as well as fund raising of three hundred million naira to build a befitting Civic Center for the organization .
He assured that it will be the first of its kind in the history of the area as the names of those who will contribute to the building of that project will be boldly written in Ikono hall of firm.
Afia, further explained that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel is happy with the development project as it align with his developmental completion agenda.
“We will continue in taking down project that will unite our people together to the grass root, the Civic Center will serve as a rallying point for Ikono/Ini people, a place whereby any of our son that wants venue for his/her occasion can make use of, without spending energy to the City.
“The contributions of our people from both Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency and friends will out-life them as we will ensure that their names are boldly written on our hall of firm and will be remembered from time to time.
“On Friday, we have the assurance that our special guest of honor, Governor Udom Emmanuel will honor Ikono people with his presence and support towards this project.
The Deputy Governor, His Excellency Mr. Moses Ekpo will serve as the guest of honor, while the event which will start by 10.00Am under the distinguished Chairmanship of Obong Dr. Henry Akpan, Rtd. Federal permanent Secretary.
However, the Paramount Ruler of Ikono
HRM. Edidem Nyong Obop, will served as the Father of the day with his Wife, Akwa Obongawan Margerate N. Obop as the Mother of the day while the Chairman of Ikono Local Government Council , Hon. Itoro Columba will serve as the Chief Host”, he added.
