The Clan Head of South Eastern Uruan His Highness Eteidung Cosmos Nkanga has assured Forum of Village Youth Presidents that he will continue to support the Forum to succeed in line with his love to Youth leadership and development of the people of the area.
The Traditional ruler stated these while addressing members of Forum of village Youth Presidents on wednesday 25th October, 2017 during a courtesy call on him at his palace in Ikot Edung village.
He said that the forum has a whole lot of responsibilities to perform mostly in the area of Youths Development in Uruan, and maintaining that it was not possible for him to ignore its development.
He also reiterated his commitment to the development and encouragement of the youth in area of security and advising them to be more productive which can help them earn a living and promote vibrant Youth leadership.
He asked the Village Youth Presidents whether Etubom Daniel Effiong Akpan was imposed on him by Village heads and they chorused “no”
The traditional ruler went on describing the Forum of Village Youth Leaders as a partner in progress, “anyone you bring up that can actually help us improve the fight against high rate of cultism in the society and that is what i will receive” he stressed.
The Traditional ruler informed the Forum of Village Youth President that Uruan people started the consensus arrangement that is practicing all over Nigeria today, advising them to intiate a life touching concept worthy of emulation by others.
He explained that the Traditionl Ruler’s Council in the past had collaborated with the youths and paid special tributes to the reduction of Cultism and also called on the new Youth leadership to eradicate their activities in Uruan Nation.
Eteidung Nkanga while reacting to the complaint about a little problem in Youth Leadership, directed all the village youth leaders to collaborate with their village heads to gain their support and promise the new leadership of his royal support.
Also speaking, The chairman of the Clan council Obong Francis Okon advised the Village Youth Presidents to cooperate with their respective Village heads and the Clan Council stressing that one day they may be appointed or elected into such office.
Earlier, the Live Patron of the forum Obong Mkpouto presented the new Coordinator forum to the Cland Head in council His Highness Eteidung Cosmos Nkanga stressing that as a live patron of the forum, there is need for a change of leadership.
The Coordinator of the forum Etubom Daniel Effiong Akpan requested the Royal blessing and pledge to support the Clan head in council and his cabinet.
“We were looking forward to receiving your Royal blessings and we promise to maintain cordial and mutual relationship between the Traditional Rulers and the Youth Presidents” he stressed.
Also speaking The Youth President of Ikot Ese Village, Etubom Kingsley Idiongette said the youths of Uruan are very satisfied with the choice of Etubom Daniel Effiong Akpan as thier leader.
“As a Youth group, we won’t let anybody out of his or her personal gains decide who leads Forum of Village Youth Presidents. We have experience past leaderships and the strides recorded hoping that the new leadership will achieve more meaningful development for our people than the past administration.
“Now that we have seen people-oriented leader in the person of Etubom Daniel Effiong Akpan, we must support him to achieve more “. He added
Another Speaker, the Youth President of Ekpene Ukim Village, Etubom Gregory Akpan said, “None of us here will say that Etubom Daniel Effiong Akpan is imposed on the forum of village Youth Presidents by anybody, he has the capacity and qualities of an effective and pragmatic leader.
We owe him nothing than to pledge our unalloyed cooperation and support for him to succeed in his assigned duties.
The group also declared their total support to their total support for the Traditional Rulers’ Council.
The courtesy call had in attendance 45 village Youth presidents, Members of the Clan council, Former PDP Chairmanship Aspirant Mr. Israel Atai, State Chairman Police Public Relation Committee, Comrade Edwin Udosen, PDP Councillorship Candidate, southern Uruan ward Five, Mr. Idongesit Okon, friends and well wishers.
