… To Award N100,000 Quarterly To Beneficiaries
Project Supervisor to Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Derek Umoh, has launched Small Scale Business Startup Scheme to award N100,000 quarterly to unemployed youths of his community in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area.
The Scheme, whose beneficiaries would be picked through a business plan competition, will encourage entrepreneurship among the youths with the rollout of startup packs to small businesses.
The Governor’s aide, who disclosed this to newsmen recently, said “The business plan competition will inspire the unemployed in my community to unleash their creative, innovative and brilliant ideas with a focus to developing those ideas, to create sustainable enterprises, and in turn provide employment for one additional person.”
Mr. Umoh lauded Governor Emmanuel for instilling in the Akwa Ibom person the faith of greatness, the DAKKADA Creed, adding that “it has laid a mandate on every Akwa Ibom person to rise to the ideals of greatness through productive endeavours.”
According to him, “participants (from Ikot Abasi LGA) for the Scheme are expected to submit a typewritten Small Scale Business Plan of any profitable business they can startup with N100,000, and defend it before a select panel. Winners would be assigned business startup mentors to facilitate immediate implementation.”
Mr. Umoh, a business development expert that has compiled Business Startup Handbook, a step-by-step guide to starting small businesses, congratulated the Governor on the recent victory at the Supreme Court, maintaining that “the Supreme Court ruling is a confirmation that Udom is Right for Akwa Ibom.”
As his contribution to entrepreneurial development as championed by the Udom Emmanuel administration, he urged those interested in his handbook, particularly the youths, to get copies of the book at cost-free and boost their businesses.
