Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has expressed his administration’s commitment to make the state a major player in the Oil and Gas Industry.
The State Governor gave the hint at Ibom E-Library on Monday while briefing newsmen on the state’s preparedness to inaugurate Akwa Ibom Oil and Gas Training and Research Centre.
Represented by the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr Nse Essien, Governor Emmanuel said the event, which will be in partnership with Halliburton, one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the energy industry, is scheduled for Thursday, November 9,2017, at the Ibom E-Library.
He said the training programme, when fully maximized, would check capital flight and boost internally generated revenue (IGR).
the Governor listed some of the courses to be offered by the Centre to include Integrated Geosciences, Drilling and Completions Engineering, Digital Official Solutions, Fabrication, Electrical Technology, HSEQ, Software Engineering among others.
Responding, Halliburton’s Manager for Landmark, Mr. Tomide Todun, thanked the the Akwa Ibom State Government for the opportunity done the company to work with Akwa Ibom, stressing that the Centre, when inaugurated, will be the best and first of its kind in sub-Sahara Africa.
Highpoint of the event was the open invitation by the State Governor to members of the State House of Assembly, Vice Chancellors of all Nigerian Universities, stakeholders in the oil and gas industry, Chairmen of Local Government Councils, Boards and Parastatals and the general public.
