Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has constituted a 20-man task team, Post-Covid-19 Economic Reconstruction Committee, to help drive the economy of the state, which according to him, has been affected by the outbreak of COVID-19.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, on Tuesday, said “The current economic challenges, occasioned by COVID-19, have thrown an inexorable necessity on us as a people and Akwa Ibom State has risen to this challenge.”
The Committee has a former Director General of West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management, Prof. Akpan Hogan Ekpo as Chairman and a Professor in the Department of Economics, University of Uyo, Emmanuel Onwioduokit, as Secretary.
Other members of the Committee included Acting Director General of Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), Lady Mary Uduk; President of the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Prince Bassey Sampson Inwang; League of Akwa Ibom Business Association (LABUSA), Pastor Samuel Archibong; President of Akwa Ibom Business Community (AIBC), Mr. Lordswill Umani; former Executive Director of NCDMB Chairman/CEO of Rootcare Pharmacy, Sir Effiong Afiakurue; President of Uyo Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mines & Agriculture (UYOCCIMA), Obong Nseyen Ebong; Executive Vice Chairman of ExxonMobil, Mr. Udom Inoyo and Managing Consultant of Noble House Consulting, Sir Inyang Inyang.
Others included Head of Institute for National Transformation, Prof. Vincent Anigbogu; Chairman of Zinox Technologies, Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh ;Executive Director of NNPC/NAPIMS, Mr. Hilary Akpan; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Marketing and Brand Management, Hon. Ime Uwah; Executive Director, Agricultural Investments (AKICORP); Pastor Umo Eno; Commissioner for Agriculture and Women Affairs, Dr. Glory Edet; Commissioner for Works, Ephraim Inyang-Eyen; Commissioner for Economic Development & Ibom Deep Sea Port, Mr. Akan Okon; Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Linus Nkan, and Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Prince Ukpong Akpabio.
The statement further hinted that the Committee will be inaugurated by 12 noon on May 1, 2020.
