THE WAR IS OVER, I CAN NEVER JOIN APC – ASSAM ASSAM

Assam-Ekanem-Assam (2)Former Nigerian Ambassador to Russia, Chief Assam Assam, SAN, has said that he will never join the All Progressive Congress (APC) because the party has nothing to offer Nigerians.
Assam, a former Akwa Ibom State Governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said “the ‘war’ is over and I want Governor Emmanuel to focus on touching the lives of the people of the state.”

Speaking with our reporter in Calabar over the weekend, the former member of G22 noted that Governor Udom needed to get younger people empowered, trained to meet the challenges of the current economic realities.

Chief Assam said that Governor Emmanuel should expect criticisms from people, but should not be distracted, rather he should keep doing his best for the state.
The legal luminary maintained that people did not vote for APC in the 2015 general elections, but voted against Goodluck Jonathan, and said he had no reason to join the APC as the party had nothing new to offer.

Assam maintained that he wanted Governor Udom Emmanuel to invest in programmes that will affect the people and avoid being distracted by cynics so that he can win the minds of the people he is leading.

“The Governor should avoid party politics and focus on governance. The war is over, I’m glad he’s been able to embark on roads, but he needs to be his own man and get into the minds of the people,” he said.

He advised the Governor to empower young people with programmes that will enable them to be productive and self reliant in order to be useful to the society.
