Founding members, frontline leaders, stakeholders and members of Peoples Democratic Party are in high spirits as the party gathers tomorrow in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital to elect new members who will serve in its National Working Committee (NWC).

The new leadership, which will be responsible for the day to day administration of the party, will have a tenure of four years.

Our correspondent who visited the Wadata Plaza, National Secretariat of the party in Abuja reports that the Secretariat is a beehive of activities with mostly leadership of the PDP from other states who have arrived the FCT already visiting the Secretariat to connect and exchange pleasantries with other members of the party from different parts of the country who they may not have seen for a long time.

Our correspondent also gathered that members of different campaign committees for candidates vying for the different elective positions were holding several meetings in a bid to put finishing touches to their plans for victory at the contest tomorrow.

The Akwa Ibom State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Barr Ini Ememobong in an interview with our correspondent said, “Of course, It is expected that our members will be in high spirits ahead of tomorrow’s convention because they understand that the success of this convention will signpost a new deal in leadership for the PDP.

“I can tell you with much confidence that after a successful convention tomorrow, our great Party the PDP will begin it’s march to victory in the days ahead. And for us in the Akwa Ibom state Contingent ably led by the State Chairman Obong Paul Ekpo, it is more exciting for us since the First Lady of our state, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel is using today which is the eve of the convention to empower thousands of Akwa Ibom women who live here in Abuja.

“I must also add that we are also reaching out to other states contingents to enlist their support for our candidate Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem who is vying for the position of the National Legal adviser of the party. On the whole, I share in firm optimism expressed by frontline members of our party that the PDP will witness a news dawn after tomorrow’s convention”

The NWC, according to Part V111, Section 29 (1) of the party’s Constitution, consists of the national chairman, deputy national chairman (north and south), national secretary, deputy national secretary, national treasurer, national financial secretary, national organising secretary, and national publicity secretary.

Other officials include national auditor, national legal adviser, national woman leader and the national youth leader.
