Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Justice Godwin Abraham, has rekindled hopes in inmates of Prisons within the state during his tour of the facilities in the state.
In Essien Udim, a 26-year-old indigene of Ekpenyong Atai, who was accused of stealing his stepbrother’s coconut, was released from prison custody.
Before he regained his freedom this morning, he had spent more than two years in Ikot Ekpene Prisons without trial.
In Abak, a 23-year-old orphan, whose uncle ordered his arrest from selling father’s land, regained freedom. .
In Ukanafun, a 30-year-old Itoro Daniel from Ikot Akpan Nkuk, who beat his father for refusing to give him money to marry a wife, regained freedom after three years in Ikot Ekpene Prison.
Also, the joy of 24-year-old Victor Effiong Eyo, who was arrested over inability to pay house rent of N55,000, knew no bounds this afternoon as he was released after two years in prison custody.
Eyo, a native of Afaha Ibesikpo was set free by Akwa Ibom State Chief Judge, Justice Godwin Abraham during his inspection of prisons in the State.
