MKPAT ENIN STAKEHOLDERS, YOUTHS FLAY MEDIA REPORT AGAINST CHAIRMAN

A recent publication in some local tabloids by a pseudo-group “Conscience” calling for the head of the chairman, Mkpat Enin Local Government Transition Committee, Lady Ekaete Usip has caught the ire of many well meaning persons in the local government area.
Stakeholders across the entire polity who spoke with our correspondent Tuesday, condemned in its entirety to content and the intention of the “sponsored crab” describing the chairman as best that has happened to the local government area in recent times.
A community leader cum political stalwart in the area, Chief Akpan Etim told our correspondent that Lady Usip deserves a “big vote of confidence for bringing leadership, integrity, unity, discipline and prudence to bear in the management of the people and resources of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, particularly, in this period of recession.”
Etim said as a woman, Lady Usip has brought peace and mutual relationship into the polity, showing humility in all aspect, let alone, using the meager resources to impact on the socio-economic and political lives of the people of the people of Mkpat Enin.
“God really brought Lady Usip to Mkpat Enin Local Government Area this time through Gov Udom Emmanuel and grateful to him and other stakeholders of Mkpat Enin, who, God used to bless us this time. The chairman is a very humane, compassionate and practical Christian. We’ll continue to stand by her and support her,” he said.
He said the author of the said sponsored publication, one Akpannim George, was a “political-nobody” in the politics of Mkpat Enin and “therefore lacks the legal or moral standi to pass a vote of no confidence on a performing and pragmatic appointee of His Excellency, Gov Udom Emmanuel.”
The community leader described as laughable the insinuation in the said publication that the chairman, Lady Usip was not in good books with other politicians in the area, saying Lady Usip and the special adviser to the governor on political/legislative affairs and water resources, Barr Ekong Sampson was in best of terms.
“I personally met Barr Ekong Sampson on the matter, Monday, and he told me in the presence of other Mkpat Enin people that he was working with Lady Usip to deliver the mandate of His Excellency, Gov Udom Emmanuel in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area and the state at large.
“Barr Ekong Sampson also said that his office was blessed to have a great woman leader and mobiliser in person of Lady Usip as the chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area at this time and that he will continue to work with her to change the circumstances of Mkpat Enin people for the better,” Etim disclosed.
A youth leader, Mr Timothy Okon warned the proponents of the said publication to leave Lady Usip alone to continue her good works for Mkpat Enin. Okon maintained that the linking of the honourable commissioner for works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-eyen in the “sponsored publication” was nothing but a clear demonstration of the writer’s myopic view in politics.
The youth leader said “it’s a fact that Inyang-eyen is not from Mkpat Enin, how come he (Inyang-eyen) will come and install Lady Usip in Mkpat Enin as the elected chairman? It’s a statement from palm bush joint and should be treated as such.”
Okon called on the people of Mkpat Enin to call George and his cohort to order as “his uncouth utterances were capable of generating bad blood in the polity.”
He also called on security operatives to quiz the said George to explain why he set fire on some part of the council’s secretariat recently, stressing that if urgent action was not taken, he will mobilize the youths to ask George to substantiate his claim in the said publication.
A woman leader, Obonganwan Grace Akpan said the publication was in bad taste as “our chairman deserves more commendations for what she’s done for Mkpat Enin people and the women in particular.”
Contacted, the council boss, Lady Usip said she never saw the write-up but that the name mentioned as the author of the publication was “inconsequential in the politics of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.”
She said her loyalty and that of Mkpat Enin people for the governor’s second term is total and that no blackmail would make her not to do her beat for the growth of Mkpat Enin, the state and nation at large.
