The declaration of support for Governor Udom Emmanuel and the PDP by a former frontline member of the Accord Party and the people of Udung Uko local government area of Akwa Ibom State, has been described as purposeful, timely and necessary reunification for progress.

Special Adviser to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Barrister Ekong Sampson gave the commendation during a rally held in Urung Uko L.G.A. to declare the collapse of varying political structures in the area and total support of the people for the present government in the State.

The rally which was organized by the Accord Party flag bearer from the area, during the 2014 House of Reps election, Mr. Christopher Esin, aka Mista Xto, witnessed a great turn out of his former supporter, indigenes and residents of the area, politicians, government officials and performing artistes from various areas of the State.

The Special Adviser who was represented by Permanent Secretary in the Bureau of Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Mr. Nse Edem, lauded the demonstration of unity by the Udung Uko people in standing by their illustrious son and joining him in due time to embrace the superlatively performing government of Mr. Udom Emmanuel and the PDP in the State.

Describing the event as mark of a new dawn for Udung Uko L.G.A., he highlighted the political inclusion agenda of the Udom Emmanuel administration and assured that the government was willing to integrate everyone and to collaborate for the betterment of the lives of people of the area.

The Political Adviser encouraged Udung Uko people to key into the wave of superior performance exhibited by Governor Udom Emmanuel and partner with the government to draw dividends of democracy to the area, in the interest of the community, rather than continuous engagement in fruitless politicking, in a season of governance.

He said Governor Emmanuel’s government is people oriented and policy driven, stressing that the season of politics had long gone. He commended Mista Xto for his demonstration of leadership in reorienting the people to reverse the trend of self-exclusion and realigning his people with the laudable government of the day, in the State.

The former House of Assembly candidate of the Accord Party and convener of the rally, Hon. Christopher Esin, popularly known as Mista Xto, thanked the Special Adviser, as represented by Nse Edem, for the show of concern and choosing to identify with Urung Uko people. He also acknowledged the developmental strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel and urged his people to put the past behind and support the performing government and the PDP in the State.

Mista Xto expressed confidence in the government of Udom Emmanuel and assured the people of Udung Uko of better days ahead as they support the government.

Highpoint of the event was a motion for a vote of confidence in Governor Udom Emmanuel by the Udung Uko people and affirmation of their support for him beyong 2019. The motion which was moved by Hon. Okon Edet Iyohokwa, President, Association of Former Elected Councilors, Udung Uko L.G.A. and duly seconded by Hon. Chief Mrs. Mercy Ita Effiong, former Vice Chairman of Udung Uko L.G.A., was adopted as the position of the people.
