Barrister Edidiong Idiong, candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for Ikono/INI Federal Constituency seat and scion of a former Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Justice Effiong Udo Idiong, has been re-arraigned before an Abuja Federal High Court over alleged diversion of weapons purchase funds.

In an 11-count charge, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Barrister Idiong, a renowned conduit-pipe for capital flight, alongside his two companies: Mootown Global Investment Ltd and African Cable TV Ltd.

The EFCC alleged that the APC candidate for Ikono/INI Federal Constituency received the sum of N1.8 billion from contracts allegedly awarded by the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki in different tranches.

Information before Ibom Telegraph has that Barrister Idiong was earlier arraigned in November, 2016 alongside former aide to Dasuki, Col. Nicholas Ashinze and Austrian, Wolfgang Reinl, the General Manager of Geonel Integrated Services Ltd, and four other companies.

Meanwhile, a source said Justice Babatunde Quadri of a Federal High Court, Abuja, has adjourned the trial of Barrister Idiong and others to February 20, 2019.
