The newly appointed Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe has resumed duties with a promise to make the polytechnic an enviable and reputable citadel of learning in the country.
Dr. Ukekpe stated this during a brief handing over ceremony at the Polytechnic Conference Hall yesterday.
He said he has the passion and has garnered enough experience to reposition the institution and make it function optimally in accordance with the aim of making the Polytechnic rank among the best in the country.
He thanked members of the management team of the institution for their contributions so far and called for their continuous cooperation and support. Dr. Ukekpe particularly thanked the Acting Rector, Dr.Emem Udofia for her transitional role and serving as a bridge between the old and new administration.
Earlier in her speech, the out gone Acting Rector, Dr. (Mrs) Emem Paul Udofia, thanked the Governing Council for finding her worthy of playing the transitional role. She said her administration had within the period under review hosted the National Board For Technical Education (NBTE) Accreditation team for the accreditation of seven new programmes with the polytechnic awaiting the result of the visitation.
She added that she had embarked on staff training to guarantee job efficiency and staff development among other laudable achievements. She appreciated the management team for their support and encouragement and sued for such for the incoming Rector.
The Chairman of the Governing Council of the institution who witnessed the brief ceremony, Prof. S.I.Udabah, congratulated Dr Uduak Ukekpe on his new appointment and wished him an eventful tenure. He advised the new Rector to carry every management staff along and establish a cordial relationship between the Polytechnic, Staff and host community.
It would be recalled that Dr.Uduak Sunday Ukekpe was appointed Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana on the 22nd November, 2018. Until his recent appointment, Dr.Ukekpe was a Chief Lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu,Yobe State.
