Parents have been called upon to take responsibility in the education of their wards to enable them turn out successful children who would cater for themselves and contribute meaningfully to the society.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, made the call during the traditional marriage ceremony between his Special Assistant on Mobilization, Mr Felix Ekpri and his wife former Miss Sylverline Basil, Thursday, 3rd November, 2020 at Adiahaobong Secondary School, Eniong Offot, Uyo.
Governor Emmanuel observed that it is the dream of every parents to see their children become successful in life and emphasused that parents should see the education of the childern as an investment rather than expenses, adding that as parents who invest in the education of their children, they expect commensurate returns from their investment.
“…education is not expenses, it is an investment and anybody who makes investment expects returns on that investment, so I believe whatever the parents of the couple invested on their children shall yeild adequate returns”, he declared.
He thanked God for blessing parents of the couple with resources to raise their children and sustain them to enable them decide to come together as husband and wife as contained in the scriptures.
“I thank God because today is one of such days any responsible father will wish for his son or daughter. After you have reproduce yourself you expect your own children to reproduce themselves too because that was the order God gave saying go ye into the world multiply and replenish the earth”, Emmanuel explained
The Governor advised youths to be obedient to their parents and constituted authorities, maintaining that obedience to parents goes with a blessing of long life and prosperity.
He expressed optimism that Felix will make a good husband having been born again and has showed sincere commitment to his assigned duties.
“I want to thank God for Felix, he is now born again, but I am sure that he will be totally born again. Once you take the first step and take the second step in christianity you are gone and Felix has taken more than three steps.
“I just want to let the youths know that I am here to celebrate loyalty, commitment, dedication and obedience which I have seen in Felix and I came this evening so that I can demonstrate to you that as a governor, I love you all.
“I really want to thank God today that Felix is getting married to a very beautiful lady with both parents standing as witnesses, I was telling someone to mark it down that Felix is going to be a loving husband, I watch people, character and attitude”, he stated .
Governor Emmanuel posited that every individual has been blessed with a God -given talent and called on youths to discover and explore their talents to it maximum advantage, pointing out that talent discovery is a great means for engagement which has affected the world positively.
He congratulated the couple on their decision to be joined as husband and wife and wished them eternal marital bliss.
On the Governor’s entourage were Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, Members of the State Executive Council , Permanent Secretaries, Political Stalwart, among others.
