The member representing Eket/ONNA/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, who recently sponsored over 50 youths of his federal constituency to learn specialized trades in the oil and gas maintenance services, has secured a high-valued job opportunity to Mr. Ekah Udofia Okon.

This was announced on Friday in Uyo during the graduation ceremony for Trainees of the Phase-Two of Hon. Okpolupm Etteh Empowerment/Training Programme.

Addressing the graduating trainees, Hon. Etteh, who was represented by a former Ibeno Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Ekoakwaha Etteh, said “This programme marks a continuation of my unwavering commitment to empowering the youth of our constituency. When I began this journey, far back before the electioneering campaign, I pledged to equip our youth with opportunities and resources, knowing that their success will strengthen our communities and propel our state and nation forward. Today, I am happy and convinced that I made the right decision. This training and certification programme represents that pledge and decision, an investment in human capital development, which lies at the core of my development agenda.”

“Our focus in the Phase-Two Empowerment Training Programme has been on equipping you with specialized technical skills that are in high demand within the oil and gas sector. From Irata rope access to forklift and rig operations, these certifications provide you not only with the knowledge but also with a competitive edge that is recognized internationally,” he said.

Mr. Ekah Udofia Okon, the benefitting trainee at the just concluded programme, took a major in Irata Rope Access at the Standard Institute of Technology (SIT), Uyo.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of SIT, Engr. Nsidibe Alexander, the trainee, while fully employed by the Institute, will advance his technical expertise through further training in Rope Access Levels 2 and 3 and in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Levels 1, 2, and 3.

Engr. Alexander maintained that Hon. Etteh’s commitment to youth empowerment remained topnotch and underscores his dedication to providing long-term career development and self-reliance for his people.

Meanwhile, Mr. Okon’s progression to higher certification levels within the institute also exemplifies Hon. Etteh’s vision of cultivating a skilled workforce in the oil and gas sector.
