eteChristians have been implored to use the exemplary opportunity of Easter to pray for peace, unity and sustainable development to prevail in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria and for God’s continual presence and guidance.

Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, former Leader of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, made the call in his Easter goodwill message to his people, saying that they should reflect on the invaluable death and resurrection of Christ and pray for the consolation of those who have lost their dear ones in recent times as well as the repose of the souls of the departed.

The former lawmaker said “besides the story of salvation for mankind, of the times, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, this period provides us the challenge of defining our individual mission in life.”

“Easter also reminds us that solidarity with one another, love, care and compassion are important values that need to be reflected on in our society. I want to also appeal to Akwa Ibom people, as good Christians, to forgive all our leaders who might have wrong us in anyway. We have no other state than Akwa Ibom, let’s support the Udom Emmanuel’s administration to succeed.”

Rt. Hon. Etteh said the lesson to be drawn from God’s sacrifice of the life of His dear and only begotten Son for mankind, is that we, as a people, must preserve the sanctity of human lives at all times, adding that more so, the resurrection of Jesus Christ offers people a message of hope, love, grace and life everlasting.
