Comrade Ememobong gave the charge on Wednesday when the Councillors paid him a courtesy visit at the party Secretariat, Uyo.

“You have to be honourable in your conduct and in the discharge of socio-political activities because this will earn you a better place tomorrow as good ambassadors of the PDP. You have to act as if you are short of a day as Councillors. So, it is pertinent, as elected representative of the people at the grassroots, for you to give sterling representation by convening meetings regularly at the Ward level. You must also extend the dividends of democracy to people at the grassroots as this will further strengthen the party’s structure.”
He enjoined the Councillors to use the opportunity to get themselves prepared for more task in higher capacity, saying “It is catastrophic for power to find its way to the hands of the unprepared. So, there is need to rise to the faith of having progressive mindset which will enable you to do more exploits in your little capacity in preparation for tomorrow.”
Responding on behalf of the Councillors, the Deputy Leader of Ikot Ekpene Legislative Council, Mr. Edeheudim Usungurua, appreciated the party under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel for the opportunity given them to serve their People in their respective capacities.
He also lauded the State Chairman of the party, Obong Paul Ekpo, for the victorious role he played during the Local Government elections.
“We are very appreciative of the role our Party Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, played during the Local Government polls. That role saw us to a landslide winning. The stand of the party leadership on zoning, power rotation and streamlining will make winning easy during elections. It is very acceptable by the people that elected us,” they maintained.
Mr. Usungurua said, as Councillors, their support to the party will remain unflinching, adding that they will “stand by the party to reclaim its pride of place and victory in subsequent electoral engagements.”
They commended the ingenuity and doggedness of the Comrade Ini Ememobong-led Publicity Unit of the party, adding that “the Unit has enable members and supporters of PDP to appreciate the unprecedented rebranding, repositioning, and transformation in the party.”
