The alleged campaign of calumny against the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, by the immediate past State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, has been put straight.
The record was put straight through a statement signed by the Prsonal Assistant to Mr. Umanah on Media, Mr. Sixtus Tom.
The statement said “The attention of the immediate past Commissioner for information and Communication, Akwa Ibom State and the President of African Media Network (AMNETT) Elder Aniekan Umanah has been drawn to the false information circulating on the social media by one Bassey Ekanem with the malicious intention of misinforming and misleading the good people of Abak Federal Constituency and all Akwa Ibomites.”
“This false information titled “Another Planned Campaign of Calumny Against the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Gov, Sir Moses Ekpo by Aniekan Umanah and Emmanuel Enoidem Exposed”, stating that: Some boys from Abak Federal Constituency have been paid by Elder Aniekan Umanah and Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem to insult the State Deputy Governor at all functions he attends with the intention of presenting the Deputy Governor as unreliable before the State Governor and the Senate Minority Leader. The false statement also claimed that brand new cars have been donated to the said boys to be following the Deputy Governor to all the occasions he attends by the former state information boss Elder Aniekan Umanah.”
“The fake Facebook account user also claimed that a brother to the former Akwa ibom state information boss, Elder Aniekan Umanah threatened to kill the SA to the Deputy Governor Hon. Iniobong Ukwak (aka Boyo) following an argument between the two when Mr. Iniobong Ukwak openly told Ofonime Umanah that he can never support his Elder brother Elder Aniekan Umanah on his Federal House bid In another of his social media write up with the topic “Another Aniekan Umanah’s Brother Threatens to Kill the SA to the Deputy Governor Iniobong Ukwak (Boyo), Asking the state security agencies to investigate the matter.”
“We wish to inform the general public that the afforsteted information about the President of African Media Network (AMNETT) and the Immediate past Commissioner for information and Communication Elder Aniekan Umanah is not only false but totally misleading, frivolous, petty, and out of point as Elder Aniekan Umanah has no such intentions about the Deputy Governor whom he places as a father figure at all points. The AMNETT boss who has always advised the youths of Abak never to disrespect Constituted authorities could not have involved in such senseless action against a man he respect so much.”
“The AMNETT boss has never and will never pay or instigate any youth from Abak LGA or Abak Federal Constituency to insult the state Deputy Governor at any occasion neither will he remain silent over the paid lunatics trying to dent the image of the State Deputy Gov, whom and he has maintained a strong and fruitful father/son relationship for years, and will never jeopardize such long standing relationship on the altar of political tantrums. The said threat of life by the AMNETT boss younger brother to the SA to the Deputy Governor is maliciously false and totally out of point by this same paid social media bookmaker as it is imperative to state that Hon. Iniobong Ukwak and Ofonime Umanah are soul brothers and Hon. Iniobong Ukwak is a very loyal and strong supporter of Elder Aniekan Umanah 2019 Federal House bid. The attention of the AMNETT boss has also been drawn to over five Facebook accounts including Ntiense Udoh, Nsibiet Nkanta, Bassey Ekanem (the spreader of this fake information), etc. Being used to spread fake news about him on Facebook and other social media. Those behind these fake Facebook accounts are already known but we wish to state that politics is not played on Facebook and other social media through blackmails. This antics of paid social media blackmail can never add a vote to the perpatrators, but should be warned that appropriate security outfits have already been briefed on their identity. Let this remind them that the people of Abak Federal Constituency will exercise their franchise by electing their choice man to represent them through their popular votes.”
The statement concluded by saying, “We therefore advice anybody from Abak seeking to contest election to desist from social media politics of blackmail, come home and prove himself worthy of people’s trust and not to remain on exile to instigate social media blackmails against the Champion.”
