Special Adviser to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Political/Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson has said that those who think that the outcome of the gubernatorial election in Ekiti State will be replicated in Akwa Ibom State next year are pretty mistaken.

The Political Affairs boss stated this while interacting with pressmen in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

He said as much as concerns have been raised over the integrity of the Ekiti governorship election, the point has to be made clear that Ekiti is Ekiti and Akwa Ibom is Akwa Ibom, with markedly different milieu.

Ekong Sampson affirmed that the people of Akwa Ibom State are historically and tenaciously linked to the Peoples Democratic Party. Also, that the current of opinion that Governor Udom Emmanuel should return to office in 2019 to fully implement his expansive roadmap for the State, is shared by the mass of Akwa Ibom people.

Sampson declared that the PDP in Akwa Ibom State has been returned to the people and that the people now own the party, stressing that Akwa Ibom people will defend Governor Emmanuels renewed mandate very vigorously, come 2019.

The Special Adviser urged Akwa Ibom people to continue to participate in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and be sure they have their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), in preparation to make a statement in the 2019 elections.

Ekong Sampson reiterated that the 2019 elections in Akwa Ibom State will be about merit and service delivery, not about propaganda and subverted political engineering.
In his words, “even when we are very sure of victory, we will continue to work hard till the last day, with our eyes wide open.

Reaffirming that it is clearly off the mark to use the scenario as a metaphor for Akwa Ibom State in 2019, Sampson maintained that in Akwa Ibom State, the PDP will hold the ground and win the game.
