A’IBOM TO REPRESENT NIGERIA AT CONTINENTAL TECH & INNOVATION EXPO IN TUNISIA

Tech innovators from Akwa Ibom State are billed to represent Nigeria at the up coming All African Technology and Innovation Expo, holding in Tunisia by August. The state Commissioner for Science and Technology, Prof. Nse Essien made this known in Uyo while receiving the Akwa Ibom son who bagged the 2nd prize (Technology Entrepreneurs Category) at the recently concluded 2018 National Technology and Innovation Expo, in Abuja.

Speaking in his office, Prof. Essien congratulated the 2nd prize winner, Engr. Ndotenyin Kingsley, on his ingenuity and expressed commendation to the State governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for sponsoring the State contingent to the Expo.

The commissioner who reiterated government’s commitment to encouraging Akwa Ibom youth to excel in science, technology and ICT assured the prize winner that the government will not only support him to package the award winning project, ‘Mobile Traffic Light with Defaulter Alarm’ for exhibition in Tunisia later this year, but will ensure that the project is commercialised for the good of the society. He further presented a cash award to the prize winner.

Presenting the synopsis of the award winning project, the Akwa Ibom born tech entrepreneur, Engr. Kingsley, outlined the uniqueness of the mobile traffic light system to include, mobility, defaulter alarm to help road traffic enforcement agents in detecting traffic defaulters, plug and play defaulter system, use of minimal solar intensity and advert display option.

Kingsley who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Technical Services, described the project as an intelligent traffic control system that comes with wireless traffic control, sensitive to light and heavy traffic in its light display.

He expressed gratitude to the State government and the Ministry of Science and Technology for the encouragement and support, while making a case for the improvement of tech innovation in the state, by way of support and funding.
