Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has harped on the need for love, peace and kindness towards one another irrespective of political and religious leaning.

In a release by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Darlington Udobong, the Speaker felicitated with the people of Uruan State Constituency vis-à-vis Akwa Ibom State, saying “it was because of the love of God for humanity that He gave His son, Jesus Christ, in ransom for the world.”

Rt. Hon. Bassey maintained that “such selfless love is what Christians should reflect in their dealings with one another, especially at Christmas. Love is God’s solution to humanity’s problems. So, embracing God’s Love will put an end to vices that could retard the growth and development of Akwa Ibom.”

The Speaker further charged leaders, stakeholders, women and youths of the area to be guided by the lessons of the Christmas season which is anchored on love, joy forgiveness, peace and unity.

He urged Uruan people to imbibe the inherent culture of mutual respect, hospitality, peace, trust and unity as virtues that Akwa Ibom is known for.

“We have no other local government area, no other state and no other country to call our own than Uruan, Akwa Ibom and Nigeria. We must keep and make it better. We can only do that through love, peace and kindness. This is what Christmas signifies. I wish you joy and prosperity as you celebrate,” he stressed.
