Governor Udom Emmanuel has said the State is blessed with rich manpower and natural endowments which, if properly harnessed, could turn around the economic fortunes of the country.
He stated this during a solidarity visit on him by Elders of a Socio-cultural Organization, Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, led by the Ntisong, Obong Essien Ekidem, at Government House, Uyo.
The Governor charged the Organization to strive and foster the unity of all the ethnic groups in the state by rekindling the torch of Ibibio Union established by our forebears to promote oneness, political cohesion and socio-economic and political growth.
He assured the Elders of his commitment to the industrial development of the state and sustainable wealth creation saying that his vision was the realization of Akwa Ibom project, a state created by God, destined for growth and used the occasion to appeal to those who may want to instigate ethnic feud to desist from such intentions.
Governor Emmanuel thanked the Elders for the visit and sued for their advice as well as prayers to enable him provide quality leadership for the State.
Earlier Ntisong Ekidem congratulated the Governor on his success at the polls and the subsequent confirmation by the Supreme Court adding that his victory was a destiny fulfilled and urged him to continue with the implementation of his economic blue prints for the sustainable development of the state.
While assuring Governor Emmanuel of the Elders support to his administration, he prayed for the Governor to succeed, adding that they were ready at all times to give their fatherly counsel whenever the need arises.
High point of the visit was the presentation of a Souvenir to the Governor by the Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, to mark the visit.
