Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has lauded the stance of Uyo Senatorial District Elders Forum on peace, love and unity in governance.
Rt. Hon. Bassey, who made this known on Friday at the Forum’s End of Year Get-Together in Uyo, commended its relentless efforts at keeping the Senatorial District together.
While noting that the area has experienced peace and unity of purpose as a result of the sterling leadership qualities of the elders, he thanked members of the Forum for their support to Governor Udom Emmanuel and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the last general elections.
The Speaker further assured the Forum of his support and urged members to chart a common front that will enhance development and growth of the area.
Earlier at the event, the Leader of the Forum, Chief Peter Ekpe Atakpo, while appreciating God for the peace and unity enjoyed in the senatorial district, urged it’s political office holders to avoid utterances and actions that will ruin the district’s chances in 2023.
The event was attended by elders and stakeholders of the district, notably among them were Sir Paully Ikpong, Mrs. Roberta Edem, Hon. Abai Tony Okpon, Hon Chris Udofia, Engr. JB Effiong, Rt. Hon. T.O Akpan, Dr Udofia Udofot, Dr Okon Emah, Elder Inyang Ekoriko, Obong Christopher Usoro, Hon Inyang Enoh, and Obong Kingsley Peters.
