2019: UWEM UDOKA REHABILITATES ABANDONED MBIABANG WATER PROJECT

A Multi-Million Naira Community Water Project in Mbiabang, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, which was obsolete for 13 years, has been fully rehabilitated by the Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Project Monitoring, Engr. Uwem Udoka.

The Water Project was initiated on the 16th day of September, 2005 when Obong Eyo Utit served Ibiono Ibom Local Government Council as Head of Council, but was abandoned thereafter.
The rehabilitated water project was formally commissioned and handed over to the people of Mbiabang Community through their Village Head, Chief Jimmy Uwah, by the Governor’s brother, Obong Ekerete Emmanuel, on Sunday, November 4, 2018.

Addressing the people, Obong Emmanuel, who reiterated the Governor’s cardinal programmes to include improved the standard of living, youth development, empowerment, said beyond the community water project, which will meet immediate needs of the people, the Governor has recorded sterling height in infrastructural development and industrialization.


Obong Emmanuel, who was accompanied to the commissioning ceremony by the Uyo Branch Manager of Zenith Bank Plc, that of First Bank Plc and a member of the Board of Trustees of Mandate Preservation Group (MPG), added that “the Governor is determined to improving the standard of living of the people through water, electricity and construction of standard roads across the 31 local government areas of the state.”
In his remarks, the Vice Chairman of Ibiono Ibom, Mr. Dominic Udotan, who stood in for the Council Chairman, expressed joy over the community water project and the Governor’s benevolence towards the people of the area.
He said the project was an extension of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s good work and urged the people of Ibiono Ibom to continue in their “undiluted support for Governor Udom Emmanuel.”
In their goodwill message, the Village Head, Chief Jimmy Uwah; the Village Chairman, Chief Ime Mithan, and the woman leader, thanked the Governor for appointing their son as one of his aides and pledged to ensure that the project handed over to the community would be protected and put to optimum use.
They appreciated the kind gesture and ingenuity of Engr. Udoka and assured that the people of the area will ensure landslide victory for all the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections.
Responding, Engr. Udoka, who assured the people of the area of more democratic dividends, said the project was borne out of the Governor’s benevolence through his brother, Obong Ekerete Emmanuel.
He said the people of Mbiabang, who have over 1,700 Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), will contribute to the success of all the PDP candidates.
The event was crowned with the final of a football tournament, solely sponsored by Engr. Uwem Udoka, played between Ata Essien FC and Ikot Inyang Odiong FC.
The match ended in a penalty kick-out with Ata Essien FC carting away the trophy in a 2 – nil victory over Ikot Inyang Oddiong FC.
The event witnessed presentation of wrappers to women across the entire villages that make up the Ward. Cash prizes and live cows were also given to the team, youths, women and elders of the community.
The representative of Senator Bassey Albert, Princewill Albert; Special Assistant to the Governor on Trade and Market Matters, Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael; Chief Executive Officer of Shade Cover, Mr. Donald Bassey; Ibiono Ibom PDP Youth Leader, Mr. Alfred Ekong; immediate past International President of Ati Annang, Elder Imoh Emeh; former aspirant to Ukanafun/Oruk Anam House of Representatives seat, Mr. Ndiana-Abasi Nana, among others graced the event.
