As preparation for the 2019 general election, particularly that of the National Assembly, gears up, a strong contender to the Uyo Senatorial District seat, Mr. Ide Owodiong-Idemeko, led the crème de la crème of Uyo Senatorial District politics, stakeholders and supporters on a consultation visit to Nsit Atai, Uruan, Uyo, Itu and Ibiono Ibom Local Government Chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing the people of the area, Mr. Owodiong-Idemeko said he is vested with skills, experience and enablement to give quality leadership and unparallel representation, adding “I promise the people of Uyo Senatorial District a new way of thinking and a new way of doing things.”
“If you elect me as your Senator, I promise you better representation. I want to work with you to change some of the things that have held us back. There must be a change, a new order of doing things. There is strength in togetherness, let us work together. My vision is to leave behind a legacy that will be a model of emulation for the people,” he stressed.

He said, though all the aspirants to the seat are worthy of the position, “The people of Uyo will vote justice and their conscience. We have seen four years of buying justice and injustice. Capacity is being able to confront injustice with your intellects. This is what I have come to offer my people.”

In his remarks, the Director General of the IDE CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION, Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok, tasked delegates to the PDP primaries to stand for the truth, justice and equity as they exercise franchise.

“The message of the PDP has been justice, fairness and equity. And this implies internal democracy, zoning and rotation of political offices in line with its constitution. Zoning of the Senate seat has always been done on Federal Constituency basis. Etinan had it for two terms. Uyo had one term. Itu/Ibiono Ibom will be completing their second term in 2019. Justice, equity and fairness demand that Uyo Federal Constituency should take its turn to produce the next Senator for the district. Ide Owodiong-Idemeko, our candidate, is a grassroot politician, a philanthropist and someone that promotes the dignity of humanity. My candidate will protect the interest of the Senatorial District,” Otuekong Ibiok explained.

In their separate responses, Chapter Chairmen of the respective Local Government Areas appreciated the aspirant to the Uyo Senatorial District seat and his team for the honour done the party.
They said though they have seen capacity in Ide Owodiong-Idemeko, they will vote for justice and their conscience, urging for continuous consultation with the party.
Members of the campaign team who also canvassed support for Ide Owodiong-Idemeko included Nsikak Ubah, Ededet Ekanem, Obot Udofia, Imoh Asangausung, Nsikak Essien, Emem Akpan, Tony Eboh, Eshiet Abasiakan, Elder Joseph Ekong, Mfon Udeme, Lawrence Effanga among others.
Highpoints of the event were the special prayer sessions offered the aspirant by the respective Chapters of the party.
