The Millennium Hall of Etinan Local Government Council on Wednesday came alive as scores of women from the 11 wards of the area were empowered for small and micro business start-ups by a Board member in the Akwa Ibom State Technical Schools Board, Mrs. Mboho Cosmas Udofot, at the Etinan chapter inauguration of the Dakkada Women Initiative (DAWIN).
Commending the women for their support and steadfastness, Mrs Udofot lauded Governor Udom Emanuel’s ingenious disposition at sustaining the tempo of people oriented governance as displayed in his uncompromising commitment to industrialization and wealth creation, which has brought the state tremendous acclaim.
Udofot who is the Etinan Chapter Coordinator of DAWIN in accepting the offer to lead the women eulogized the Governor’s favourable disposition to women empowerment, noting that the state chief executive has through the various intervention programmes of his administration given women in the state a voice and platform to advance a virile family and economic front.
The Etinan DAWIN Coordinator listed the emancipation of the female folk through financial grants, training and agricultural renaissance as programmes that stands out the Governor’s wife, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel among her peers, noting that her humane disposition to the development of the girl child is exemplary.
She appreciated the Governor’s wife, for being a strong pillar of support that has liberated women in the state, applauding her humility and passion at making lives better, while promising to mobilize women of the area to massively support the Governor’s 2019 return bid in appreciation of his gender sensitivity.
Inaugurating the chapter executive of the organization, the State Coordinator Mrs. Itoro Etim, charged the women to preserve their dignity and not acts as agents of disintegration, especially as the current administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel was committed to assisting them attain economic stability.
Mrs. Etim tasked the women on the need to be economically productive and viable, as the founding principle of the group abhors idleness, urging the chapter executive to modulate ways of mobilizing women of the area for the general good of the society.
Expressing satisfaction with the leadership of the group in Etinan, the Chairman on the occasion, Dr. Sarah Esitikott eulogized Mrs. Udofot’s capacity at mobilizing people to achieve desired goals, describing her financial empowerment to women of the area, regardless of the current economic realities as legendary.
In their goodwill messages the PDP Women Leader for Etinan Mrs. Ekaette Enoch and Mrs. Ime Eseme Essien lauded the vision behind DAWIN as progressive, expressing readiness to partner them to achieve their aims and objectives, while restating their commitment to returning Governor Udom Emmanuel for a second term in 2019.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Mrs. Udofot, whom they noted have deepened their confidence through her gesture of empowering them to be productive and self-reliant, as she leads them to political and socioeconomic reckoning.
