As part of its mobilization effort for the 2019 election, the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plan to commence a Door-to-Door Campaign in Eket Local Government Area.
The announcement was made by the State Treasurer of PDP, Mr. Akpadiaha Ebitu, on Saturday in Eket during a breakfast meeting with stakeholders and supporters of the party.
Mr. Ebitu thanked the people of Eket for their steadfastness and support to the party and its leadership.
In his word: “I thank God sincerely for his faithfulness and for sustaining the breakfast meeting for the past eight years. The meeting has gien us the opportunity to deliberate on issues that have guaranteed progress and success in the party.”
“It is very important to note that the forthcoming election is a unique one and we should be prepared to win convincingly on ground. We must return Governor Udom Emmanuel as Governor in 2019. In order to make this a reality, it is pertinent for us to kick-start a Door-to-Door Campaign,” he added.
Mr. Akpadiaha admonished members of the party that have indicated interest to aspire for political offices to put God first, according to him, “It is only in Eket that aspirants sit this way together on the same table and discuss affairs of the party. So, I encourage every aspirant to endeavour to put into consideration the God factor as it is obvious that nobody ever gained power without the God factor. Power comes from God and no one ever succeeded in power without God.”
Earlier in their separate remarks, Chief Udonsak, Mr. David Lawrence, Senator Helen Esuene, Mr. Frank Archibong among others, lauded the effort of the PDP State Treasurer for suataining the meeting, which according to them, “has brought about peace, unity, fairness and credibility in the party.”
“We are ready to support the party to return Governor Udom Emmanuel for a second term. It is the only thing that will guarantee equity, fairness and justice and this implies that after Eket Senatorial District, through Governor Udom Emmanuel, finishes it tenure in 2013, power will return to Uyo Senatorial District. Other senatorial districts have been beneficiaries of this pact,” he explained.
Speaking further, Akpadiaha said “Our concern and commitment is to mobilize support from Units and Wards for PDP and Governor Udom Emmanuel and we cannot do this successfully without our Permanent Voter Card (PVC). The Door-to-Door Mobilization Campaign is apt and we must participate fully in the exercise. We must also encourage our supporters to enroll in the ongoing Membership registration and Revalidation exercise of the party at our respective ward centers. PDP belongs to all of us and the successes made by the PDP led government can only be ascribed to all of us. All hands must be on deck in order to achieve this common goal for the common good of Akwa Ibom State. Governor Udom Emmanuel is the right man for the state at a time like this.”
