WIDOW OF THE LEGENDARY S. J. KING PASSES ON

The widow of the legendary S. J. King and Matriarch of the Kings of Ekpene Ukpa, Mrs. Bessie S. J. King has passed on.

This was made public by the eldest son of the Amazon and head of the S. J. King family, Comptroller Ekpedeme S. J. King, Comptroller of Immigration, Anambra State Command.

The Public Relations expert, who had the rare honour of holding office as the Service PRO of the nation’s Immigration Service on three different occasions, said that a vacuum has been created by her departure.

Mr. King called for prayers from friends and well-wishers for the family, at this time of their grief, while announcing the 13th of May, 2017 as the date for the interment of the departed teacher.

Mrs. Bessie King was a career woman of great strength and tenacity, who put her family first and gave her all, while her cerebral husband went on several diplomatic missions around the world to help shape and develop Nigeria’s Foreign Service.

Married to a leading light of Iman politics, whose activities including that of being the Secretary of the Mainland State Movement; a group of eminent Akwa Ibom sons who fought for the creation of the State out of the old Southeastern State (Cross River State), always left Mama, as she was fondly called, with more than a fair share of responsibilities at home.

While condolences continue to pour in from home and abroad, many well wishers and sympathizers are of the opinion that this is the time for the government and the good people of the State to recognize the many sacrifices of the late leader, his widow and compatriots.

According to Mr. Nseabasi S. J. King, “Mama, was not just any mother. She was peculiar. The kind who did not only bath and fed her children but one who handed down the legacies of my heritage to me in the stories that she told me during bedtime.”

The final obsequies as announced by the family will be conducted by the Trinity Assembly Church, Ekpene Ukpa, in Etinan Local Government Area.
