UYO FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY: ITUEN LEADS EKPEYONG

Former Mayor of Uyo and 2019 APC House of Representatives aspirant, Hon Ekerette Ekpeyong lost the APC nomination to Mr Akpanobong Ituen who is leading in Uyo federal constituency based on preliminary results that came in Thursday night.
Ituen defeated his closest rival, Hon Ekerette Ekpeyong in Uruan, scoring a total of 1,194 to Ekpeyong’s 558.
He also led in Ibesikpo Asutan with 2,279 with Ekpeyong trailing behind.
In Uyo, he defeated Ekerette Ekpeyong by 718 to 442 while Essein Nkanga scored 83 votes to Perry Ntuk’s 155 with Udoma James securing 206 votes.
In Nsit Atai, Ekerette pulled a total of 785 to Ituen’s 88 votes while Essien Nkanga got 20 votes to Udoma James’ 51 votes with Perry Ntuk pulling a total of 19 votes.
Speaking to newsmen on the outcome of the primary, Mr Ituen thanked the people of Uyo federal constituency for the confidence they have reposed in him and for the support so far gotten.
He called on the APC national executive to respect the wishes of Uyo federal constituents as any attempt to undermine the collective will of the people may not mean well for the party.
He explained that the constituents decided to tow the line of what happened in Lagos where election materials were hijacked but the national executive of the party gave the go ahead for the party men and women who had already thronged the polling units to vote to go ahead and cast their votes for candidates of their choice, and noted with delight that the people’s will have proven that the collective power and determination of the people is stronger any form of repression.
He called on all his supporters to continue to support President Muhamadu Buhari come 2019, as the President means well for Nigeria.
