“Ukanafun LGA Is Very Peaceful, Law-Abiding” – Council Chairman

The Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Godwin Inyieng, has described as false and misleading, a story in an online national daily, purporting an atmosphere of restiveness and or rebellion in the area. Inyieng, in a statement dated Monday, May 22, 2023, made available to newsmen in Uyo, also said such publication was “malicious, satanic, fictitious and wicked,” urging people to discountenance same.
He maintained that, as the Chief Security Officer of the Local Government Area, Ukanafun has been one of the most peaceful among the 31 Local Government Areas in the state, adding that, the people including the youths have been obedient and supportive of every efforts geared towards the growth and development of the area.
“I state here that, there is no breakdown of law and order in the Local Government Area. The purveyors of the restiveness agenda are unhappy with the peace, harmony and brotherliness prevailing in the area for the past two years, and therefore, trying to imagine or generate crisis where and when there is none.
“For the upteemth time, my people are the most peaceful, friendly, law-abiding, patriotic, industrious and educated citizens in this Country. They are not delighted taking up arms or other implements of war against each other or the State,” the Council Boss stressed.
Inyieng emphasised that the suggestion of restiveness and or rebellion credited to the Online Daily Independent Newspaper, was a figment of the writer’s imagination, traceable to “the quarters of few evil men, who mix-up freely with the majority of the sensible and well-meaning people of the area.”
On the issue of the Board of Trustees (BoT), membership of the Savannah Energy/Accugas impacted communities, “let me restate here that, this has been handled most cordially with all stakeholders flowing on the same page, stressing that, “developmental issues were not meant to promote strife and disharmony.”
The Ukanafun helmsman appealed to his people to continue to maintain the peace that “was procured for us by Gov Udom Emmanuel since about five years ago.”
