UDOM’S COMMISSIONER DONATES DIGITAL CLASSROOM TO ALMA MATA

In line with Governor Udom Emmanuel’s free, compulsory and qualitative education plan for Akwa Ibom State, Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Mr. Akan Okon has donated a sustainable digital classroom system to his Alma Mata, Itam Secondary School, Obong Itam

The Commissioner who was accompanied on the visit by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Ntufam Elijah Iyak also seized the opportunity to promote “Hope for Udom Emmanuel Movement”, a political group committed to supporting the Free education policy of Governor Udom Emmanuel and his second term bid. The group were also in the school to provide educational materials and reward excellence.

The digital classroom system developed by Edustabl is a smart class room that provides interactive educational content for schools. It gives online learning aids for both students and teachers and can be accessed online and offline. The digital classroom is a 3-way device, which serves as a projector, computer and interactive board.

Edustabl is an IT company whose primary focus is on Technology in Education, transiting from the phase of analogue to digital mode of learning on all levels of education. According to the facilitator of the project, Edustabl will train teachers on how to operate the system so they can deploy technology to teach effectively.

The Principal of the School, Elder Okon Eniang in his welcome address expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for visiting the school and commended him for continually being a blessing to humanity. He stated that Itam Secondary School boasted of professionals in different fields of which Mr. Akan Okon was one.

Speaking further, the principal presented some of the challenges of the school to the Commissioner who promised to assist to the best of his ability while expressing optimism that with his great personality, show of love and care to humanity, a generation yet unborn will benefit from your generosity. He lauded the Governor for supporting the school through the Commissioner and pledger 100% loyalty and support for his administration.

The Housing Boss in his response said the State was blessed to have a Governor who is very passionate about education which justifies why he goes the extra mile to ensure modern learning materials are provided for Akwa Ibom students to make them more competitive. He expressed optimism that with this equipment, more knowledge will be imparted to students while making it easier for teachers to teach more efficiently. He admonished the students and their teachers to take good care of the equipments to prevent theft and vandalization.

“I believe there is no way i will be an appointee of the Governor and my alma mata does not benefit. Itam secondary school is among the first 5 schools benefiting from this initiative. This school has a special place in the heart of the Governor and i assure you that before you return next session, all the ongoing renovation works in this school will be completed”, he said

The visibly elated students and teachers sang, danced and cheered in celebration as they lauded the Governor for his unparalleled benevolence and magnanimity towards them. To crown the event, Hope for Udom Emmanuel Movement presented prices to best performing students of the school in the term ended.
