Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has advised the newly elected PDP officers in the state to use the mistakes of the past to serve as lessons of today, in order to reposition the party.
Governor Emmanuel who spoke while receiving the report of the Akwa Ibom State, Local Organizing Committee of the 2016 PDP state/local government chapter congresses in government house, Uyo, lauded the committee for executing a peaceful and credible congress across the wards, the chapters and at the state level.
The governor maintained that reports from across the state show that the congresses were extremely peaceful, and thanked all stakeholders of the party for happily taking part in the exercise, describing it as a demonstration of unity of purpose.
He thanked the people of the State for keeping faith with the PDP,which he described as a religion in the state, saying that the PDP remains the only party whose programmes have left tangible evidences of development in the state.
He described the current negative reports against the party national leadership as a mere storm in the teacup, insisting that the party remains the largest political party in Africa.
Earlier, the Chairman of the local organizing committee, Sir Udo Ekpenyong said the committee lived up to its charge by making sure that all wards and local government areas count in the recent congress.
He said the coordinators and electoral officers appointed performed to the satisfaction of the state organizing committee of the party.
He said the committee has made some recommendations in the report for the governor’s prompt attention, and thanked the leader of the party for the confidence in the committee members.
