UDOM, NKANGA, OTHERS PRAY FOR AKWA IBOM

Governor Udom Emmanuel has commended the initiative of United Intercessors Network in repositioning the state for greatness through intercessory prayers.
Governor Emmanuel made the commendation during a Prayer Conference organised by the United Intercessors Network to redeem the land of Uyo at Uyo Local Government Council Hall grounds.
The Governor who spiced his speech with melodious tunes acknowledged that Uyo had been the commercial nerve centre east of the Niger because of the outstanding entrepreneurs that came from the area and particularly mentioned the Joesco Group of Companies and the Utuks Motors Limited who were renowned in the downstream sector as well as transportation ventures.
He however wondered why such big conglomerates should suffer exhibition within a twinkle of an eye pointing out that the devil has denied the people opportunity of attaining such feat and called for prayers for a breakthrough.
Governor Emmanuel expressed appreciation to the leadership of United Intercessors Network for finding it expedient to mobilise people in all the Local Government Areas to offer prayers for the redemption of the state and assured that God would use their prayers to turn things around in the state.
Mr Emmanuel commended the Uyo Stakeholders for their decision to intercede and dedicate the land to God saying that the practice had been with man from the biblical times where prophets devoted themselves to pray for the government of the Land.
Earlier, the Uyo Local Government Transition Committee Chairman Barrister Mfon Ben who took the only Bible reading from the book of Genesis Chapter 18 verses 23 to 33, said that the prayer summit became necessary in order to pave way for laudable development projects which the Governor has earmarked for Uyo community.
He said as landlord of the state, Uyo deserves the best in terms of development and spoke of the willingness of the people to cooperate with the state government to enable it provide quality infrastructures that will enhance the status of Uyo as the state Capital.
While thanking the Governor for attending the prayer Conference in spite of his hectic schedule, the Council Chairman expressed optimism that the prayer meeting will usher the people to fruitfulness and that God will use the meeting to rewrite the history of the area.
Reverend Akan Weeks of the Reigners Bible Church International Uyo, who preached on theme “Liberating the Land” said that God uses intercessors to salvage people and nations from destruction and that any family or community without an intercessor is bound to face calamities.
He described Intercessors as Pillars of the community noting that Abraham’s intercession for the Land of Sodom and Gomorrah delayed God’s wrath in those places and called on the people to use prayers to avert destruction stressing that no Christian who is persistent in prayer falls prey to life situation.
The prayer summit which was attended by Wife of the Governor Mrs Martha Emmanuel, Wife of former Governor in the erstwhile Cross River State, Obonganwan Nne Isong, State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Obong Paul Ekpo, Director General Divine Mandate, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, Immediate Past State Executive Council Members Prince Enobong Uwah and Mr Akan Okon, Permanent Secretaries, Boards and Commission Chairmen as well as Uyo Political Stakeholders, featured agreement prayers and dedication of the land by Governor Emmanuel and Stakeholders in the Uyo Local Government extraction.
